No, I haven't vanished off the planet. ;)
Things are finally starting to settle down after a loooong and busy holiday season. So, I'm back to regular postings as of... now!
A little bit about the bustle, just because find it so hilarious how busy we were.
1. I finished work on Dec 23rd, went home to pack and clean... then was early to bed.
2. Up at 5am on Dec 24th to head 6 hours East to my parents' house for Christmas. Baked and mingled and played with my Mom's kitties (as seen in pictures)... visited with my many aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.
3. Left their house and headed 6 hours back home Dec 27th, got home fairly late.
4. Had one day to unpack, clean, reorganize, and repack.
5. Had the in-law family come up from Southern Ontario Dec 28th & 29th. Large dinner made, some shopping, and a couple late nights of cards and good times.
6. We left with them on the 30th to a wedding 2 hours South-East of us. Stayed in a hotel that night.
7. Left the next morning, the 31st, after the wedding, and travelled 4 hours South to a friend's house (C453Y) for New Years Eve. Went out to a fancy dinner when we got there, and stayed up reeeeeeeeeeally late (into the wee hours of the morning - 4am if I recall) playing board games.
8. Next day, slept in (somewhat), then the fun started again by playing video games, then going out to dinner, and then having another -not so late, but still late- night.
9. Woke earlyish the next morning to travel 4.5 hours back home.
10. Got home and died from exhaustion.
That was even exhausting to type out. ;)
All in all though, it was a wonderful holiday. Bad thing was that when we got home, we both got sick and had to take 2 days off work to recover (and still recovering). :P I figure by this weekend, the tree will be down and things will start to feel back to normal.
Now.. on to kittens. I have good news and bad news.
Maybe I'll start with the bad news... unfortunate, awful news, that I've been hiding...because I haven't wanted to make anyone sad. But, I think I'll feel better if I have it out in the open.
*warning* this is sad :(
When I dropped Chia off before I left on holidays, I was anxious to see Candy and hug her a little again before I left. I was hoping that Chia and her could share a cage while I was away...
And then they gave me the terrible, terrible news. :( Candy took a turn for the worst. Apparently they were waiting to tell me about it because they didn't want to tell me over the phone (but having them tell me in person was pretty darn hard, let me tell you....). After days and days of being on antibiotics, her eye got so bad and was causing her extreme pain and discomfort...and they had to put her down :( (sigh..ok... see, getting weepy eyed writing about it)....
Anyway... sorry to tell yas all so late... just didn't want to be a downer over the holidays. :( I'm sure she's somewhere in the clouds, tearing around like the monkey that she was, and not in pain anymore. I feel fortunate that I had her in my home for the couple months.. I know that her time here was a happy time, and she was spoiled and loved during her short life. I miss her terribly. <3
Sigh... sorry again. :/
Well... like I said... I do have some good news though...
I was supposed to pick up Chia after we returned on the weekend, and when I called to see when I could, they told me she was adopted! I was super duper happy to hear about that. I know she's going to make someone very happy - she's a such a sweet little thing. I'm gonna miss her so very much though, too.
And.. on top of that.. more good news to report..
I talked to the SPCA today and it looks like they have a new bundle for me to take sometime next week if I'm interested. So, I'll be waiting by the phone until then!
January is also my month to work at Petsmart, but due to being sick this week, I had to work at the office today - so I wasn't able to make it. But, I will be there with new camera in hand for next week!
In the meantime... A few snippits in memory of Candy <3 <3 <3
Oh sweet little Candy ~ think of how much love you were able to give her before she went. She was well loved ~ if only for a short time.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back and at it. I've missed your posts. I can hardly wait for pictures (using that swanky new camera) of your new kitty babies!
xxoo thinking of you
Catherine
PS: To answer your question ~ Michael Buble CD - love it! (Except for one song...!)
Oh, honey, I am so sorry. You made sure she was loved, and loved well, during her short time here. I'm sure Tish and many others were at Rainbow Bridge ready to take her under their wings (errr... paws) and make sure little Candy stays happy until you join her.
ReplyDeleteYay for Chia!! That's wonderful news! A successful launch... good going!
Me again! I nominated you for the "Kreativ Blogger Award". Pop over to my blog and pick it up if you like! xxoo Catherine
ReplyDeleteoh you poor thing. i know you've taken this very hard. unfortunately, some just don't make it, and it's the best thing to do... but you loved her while she was here. and sweet candy is okay now, like you said, frolicking in the clouds. :)
